Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people, and achieved superstar status by his folk-inspired pop hits with a lot of them being set in Colorado. He was born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, the singer-songwriter fell in the love of Colorado before settling in Aspen. Denver's popular songs about his home state brought many others to make the move to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated the following: John Denver is the only artist to represent Colorado. In 2011, Denver was selected as the Hall of Fame's very first inductee. In the present, he's seen as a symbol of Colorado by people across the world. In my journeys, you encounter someone on the other part of the globe, someone comes from New Zealand and you say "I'm from Colorado and the first word that comes you hear is"Oh John Denver! Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads composed by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief involvement in a folk group which was Denver's first Top 10 solo hit. Danoff was the one who wrote the song to imitate the style of Johnny Cash, but Denver had the opportunity to listen to an early version, and was certain it would become a top 10 hit. Danoff recorded the track just a few days later following a performance to crowds of enthusiastic fans on the streets of Washington D.C.
