Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder is the professionally-known name of Winona Laura Hoowitz, born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents, Winona Ryder's parents, chose her name after her hometown. Michel Horowitz is her father, while Cynthia Palmer is her mother. Ryder's father came from a Jewish family. Ryder believes she is Jewish. The actress has also a half-sister named Sunyata Jubal. Her younger sibling is Uria. Ryder relocated with her family members to Mendocino County California at the age of seven. At the time, there wasn't electricity. The books on television were Ryder's only distraction for her time, and she began to read extensively. Ryder was 12 when she enrolled at the American Conservatory Theatre for acting classes in 1983. In 1986, she got her first major-screen appearance in the film Lucas at just 15 years old. Ryder experienced bullying at high school. She hoped that her acting career would change the way she dealt with bullying. However, it didn't come be. Still she continued pursuing her dream. In 1988 she had her big break in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder continued playing characters that made a splash in various films. Two Academy Awards were nominated, one for The Age of Innocence (1996).
